Best For

  • Asia's No. 1 pizzeria: RistoPizza by Napoli sta ca
  • A pizza tasting experience: The Pizza Bar on 38th
  • Classic Neapolitan in a neighbourhood setting: La TRIPLETTA or L'INSIEME

Tokyo has become one of the best pizza cities in the world. In the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific 2026 ranking, announced in Tokyo in March, the city took the top two places and seven of the 50 spots, more than any other city in the region. In September 2026, RistoPizza by Napoli sta ca also placed seventh in the 50 Top Pizza World ranking, the highest position ever for a pizzeria in Japan.

This guide covers all seven ranked Tokyo pizzerias plus three essential addresses, from an eight-seat pizza counter in a luxury hotel to a tiny Azabu-Juban bar that serves just two pizzas.

How We Chose These Pizzerias

This is an editorial selection, not a scientific or absolute ranking. We started from the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific 2026 ranking, compiled by anonymous inspectors, and Tabelog's Pizza 100 list, then checked each address and price against recent listings and menus.

The guide is compiled from published sources, not from personal visits. Prices and hours change often, so check before you go.

With just eight seats at a marble counter, The Pizza Bar on 38th is often called one of the smallest pizzerias in the world. It was Asia-Pacific's No. 1 from 2023 to 2025 and second in the world in 2025. Chef Daniele Cason serves pizza omakase-style, slice by slice, using a dough fermented for 48 hours and seasonal ingredients from Japanese producers.

Price and booking: the evening omakase starts at ¥17,600 per person, plus a 15% service charge. Seats are released monthly on the OMAKASE booking platform with full prepayment, so book as soon as dates open. The dress code is smart casual.

La TRIPLETTA

Address: 3-13-12 Koyama, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo

Chef Kenji Ohta trained in Naples before opening this lively neighbourhood pizzeria, a two-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station. It ranked No. 17 in Asia-Pacific in 2026 and has been named to Tabelog's Pizza 100 list six times. Its soft, chewy Neapolitan pizzas make it a good choice for families and groups.

Price and booking: Tabelog lists a budget of ¥1,000 to ¥1,999 at lunch and ¥4,000 to ¥4,999 at dinner. Reserve online.

Pizza Strada

Address: 3-6-2 Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, Tokyo

Open since 2011, Pizza Strada bakes simple, traditional pizzas in a wood-fired oven and has a popular terrace. It ranked No. 21 in Asia-Pacific in 2026, and its pizza with smoked mozzarella, pecorino and cherry tomatoes was named 50 Top Pizza's Pizza of the Year in 2022.

Price and booking: the buffalo mozzarella margherita cost ¥3,080 in late 2025. It is a four-minute walk from Azabu-Juban Station, exit 1.

L'INSIEME

Address: 1-31-7 Kameido, Koto-ku, Tokyo

The chef opened L'INSIEME in Kameido in 2016 because its unpretentious atmosphere reminded him of Naples. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and ranked No. 23 in Asia-Pacific in 2026. It serves both Neapolitan pizza and charcoal-grilled meat; the house pizza, named after the restaurant, is topped with arugula, parmesan and smoked provola.

Price and booking: Tabelog lists a budget of ¥2,000 to ¥2,999 at lunch and ¥5,000 to ¥5,999 at dinner. Reservations are recommended. It is a five-minute walk from Kameido Station.

MASSIMOTTAVIO

Address: 4-4-4 Eifuku, Suginami-ku, Tokyo

This neighbourhood pizzeria in the quiet residential area of Eifukucho is known for Neapolitan pizza with a soft, airy crust. It ranked No. 32 in Asia-Pacific in 2026, its third consecutive year on the list.

Price and booking: the margherita costs from about ¥1,600, making it one of the best-value ranked pizzerias in Tokyo. It is a short walk from Eifukucho Station on the Keio Inokashira Line.

pizza marumo

Tokyo's Pizza Pioneers

Seirinkan

Address: 2-6-4 Kamimeguro, Meguro-ku, Tokyo

Chef Susumu Kakinuma, often called the godfather of Neapolitan pizza in Japan, helped launch Tokyo's artisan pizza scene from Nakameguro in the 1990s. His three-storey building, designed by an iron artist, plays Beatles music, and the menu has only two pizzas: margherita and marinara, known for a distinctively salty dough.

Price and booking: a diner in 2026 paid ¥2,800 for the margherita. Reservations are accepted for dinner only, and every guest must order a dish and a drink. It is a five-minute walk from Nakameguro Station.

L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele

Address: 4-4-7 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

The famous Naples pizzeria, open since 1870 and made world-famous by the book and film "Eat Pray Love," chose Ebisu for its first branch outside Naples in 2012. The Tokyo restaurant stays true to the original, focusing on margherita and marinara made with directly sourced ingredients.

Price and booking: on the current takeaway menu, the margherita costs ¥2,600 and the marinara ¥2,200. Booking listings show an average spend of about ¥1,500 at lunch and ¥3,500 at dinner. It is a three-minute walk from Ebisu Station.

SAVOY Tomato & Cheese

Address: 3-3-13 Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, Tokyo

This ten-seat counter in Azabu-Juban keeps it simple: tomato or cheese, which means marinara or margherita. It has been named to Tabelog's Pizza 100 list five times since 2017, and its small size makes it a good spot for a quick solo lunch.

Price and booking: booking listings show a budget of ¥2,000 to ¥2,999 at lunch and ¥4,000 to ¥4,999 at dinner.

Good to know: closed on Wednesdays.
